The "R"

You know when you go to a buffet and you try a little bit of everything? That pretty much describes my Transformasphere journey.

I came into college pre-med (H-ealth) and dreamed of doing medical missions. Sophomore year I declared my major as English and considered teaching high school English (E-ducation). Junior year I decided I wanted to use the analytical skills from my major in a more practical setting, so I shifted over to pre-law. Senior year I took the LSAT and applied to law schools (G-overnment). Upon graduating, I found work at a private English school for foreign students, did a 180 degree turn back to E-ducation and got a Masters in Educational Administration. While serving in the church and working with the multimedia teams, I began to grow interest in graphic design and mutimedia (A-rts). I've currently dipped into the world of online advertising (C-ommerce). And finally, all these major changes in life direction led to significant family strife (D-omestic issues).

In case you've lost track, we've touched upon C-H-A-G-E-D.

But with all the pickings in this great buffet, I have to say that I keep coming back to one selection among the array of choices. It's the staple, like the buttery biscuits that you replenish your plate with every time you go back up, no matter what other new items you pile onto your plate. It's the one thing that has remained consistent in the midst of the twists and turns of my personal journey: it's the R (R-eligious Institutions) - in particular, the local church.

I'm learning that the local church is the one organization whose movement has endured through time, history, society and culture, and is still alive today, beating the same drum and singing the same tune as when it first started: to go and make disciples of all nations for the increase of God's glory.

It's the sphere that we're all called to, no matter which of the other six spheres we identify with. Someone may never be called to law and medicine, but he/she will always be called to build up the local church. Someone may never be an investment banker and a high school teacher, but he/she will always be called to build up the local church. And clergy? Well, I guess they have it easy. :)
