We are currently in the midst of a historical election. In particular, the prospect of electing a woman as a candidate for presidency is a monument to the woman’s suffrage movements of the early 1800’s. The different waves of women’s movements that have taken place since then, have significantly shaped our perspective of what it means to be a woman today. As a Christian woman however, how do key values of the postmodern woman fit into Christian worldview? How do things such as power or freedom translate into a Christian woman’s thoughts, behavior and relationships? I believe these are key questions that must be addressed at a very foundational level.
As a result, we have recently started a blog for women called “Girl Matters.” The purpose (as you will see right under the heading of the blog) is – “Voicing truth on biblical womanhood.” It is a blog that is written by four women who have similar passions but different perspectives and backgrounds in communicating aspects of biblical womanhood. Our hope is to provide insightful, provoking, intelligent, genuine dialogue on what it means to be a Christian woman today. More importantly, we hope to cut out the “fluff” of assuming that the Christian woman is the conservative woman who is outdated in her political and cultural relevance. We simply want to get to the heart of the matter – which is quite simply, truth.
By all means, this is not a site just for women. Men are welcome to visit and perhaps figure out some of the mystery and complexity of the woman’s personhood or better yet, give us a listening ear and allow our voice to encourage you to grow as men of God.
So visit our blog – www.girlmatters.net. We appreciate your attention and hope that you will come to embrace the blog as a place where girl matters are addressed.
