This past Tuesday, the single adults in the Ann Arbor community came together for The Night Life event hosted by members of the Focus Ministry of HMCC. It was a fun night of music and discussion as we tacked the issue of the "quarter life crisis."
The quarter-life crisis is a feeling of anxiety and questioning of purpose as college graduates quickly realize that they are not achieving all the goals and landmarks they thought they would while they were at university. We were able to reminisce about our college years and what we thought we would be doing after graduation. For many of us, there was a complete disconnection between the ideas we had about where we would be and the reality of where we are now.
As our group was asked questions how to advise a person going through this crisis, we were able to settle on a conclusion: even though things do not often work out the way we thought they would, they always end up being for out benefit in ways we never could have foreseen. A good example: Steve Jobs. For the Christians, we realized that this is called "providence."
Our next Night Life event will be held at the Michigan Language Center on Tuesday, December 11th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. We will be having a potluck and a time to share cultures with the international students that have come to Ann Arbor to study.
