Missions Week was great, especially having Dr. Tennent come and share with us on Friday and Saturday. I think the greatest thing for me though was hearing P. Seth lay out the vision God laid on his heart for building God’s kingdom. Before this past Sunday, church planting, Transformasphere, and the international travels were all separate items and it was hard to connect the dots. After seeing the diagram laid out though, it was cool to see that everything not only connects together, but the vision would not exist if it was missing any single element. Every part (church planting, Transformasphere, international outreach) is required or the vision won’t be realized. It’s clear that it’ll take a long time, but with God’s blessing and everyone’s participation it’ll be an awesome way to see God’s kingdom grow in our generation.
It was great to hear Dr. Tennent confirm what we are trying to do as a church with the whole Transformasphere Movement. This generation is truly rethinking how to do missions -- using a more holistic approach. For me, I have been a big advocate of Business as Missions (BAM) since attending Urbana last year and it was great to hear him talk about how this is central to a lot of missions strategies today. However, business is only one of many spheres. I pray that we will be able to see transformation of nations through missions strategies that involve all seven societal spheres.
