Today there was a talk given by Dr. Tadataka Yamada, president, of the Global Health Program of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
When I think about the sphere of education, I often think about how it can be used to reach the people in need with the Gospel. In the past two years of teaching, I've experienced the difficulty in reaching a group of students and staff with the Gospel. Being in a public school limits me from being able to say certain things I want to say and teach certain things I want to teach.

* - “For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” (Acts 5:38-39).
“He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker” (Proverbs 14:31).

Some of the single adults at HMCC will be hosting a discussion group called The Night Life at Sweetwaters Café in downtown Ann Arbor on October 23rd at 7:00pm. The hope of these discussion groups is to talk about significant and meaningful topics with people in our community. Various members will also be performing musical pieces and other artistic expressions.
This month, we will be discussing the following topic: Life’s Balancing Act: Friends, Family, Work, Life.
I hear that all families are dysfunctional in one way or another, and my family growing up was no exception. I wouldn't say my childhood was an altogether unhappy one, but it did have it's share of frightening and lonely moments. The constant verbal and physical fights between my parents had a negative impact on how I viewed marriages. As with most girls, I did think about boys and marriage, but those thoughts would be overshadowed by my parents troubled marriage.
The undergrad retreat was truly an experience that we will never forget. We would love to hear your thoughts on the retreat and celebrate all that God did. Please post a comment below, share your BOO YAG, and give glory to our awesome God!
Note: BOO YAG = Big, Outrageous, Over-the-top, You're Awesome God!
